Our Story

Diecast Model Centre began in 2005 with a simple idea: to create a place where collectors could find models they genuinely care about. For our founder, Ian, it was more than a business decision. After many years in travel and tourism, it was an opportunity to step away, reflect, and build something rooted in personal passion.

At the time, launching an online store was far from easy. eCommerce was still developing, and building a website required considerable investment and persistence. Despite this, the vision was clear — to offer a specialist range of models to collectors across the UK, at a time when most were still only available through shops, markets, or swap meets.

The early years were encouraging, but like many small businesses, we faced challenges. The 2008 financial downturn had a real impact on the collector market, forcing us to adapt quickly and rethink how we operated. It was not easy, but it shaped the business into something more resilient and focused.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought another period of uncertainty. Demand shifted overnight, and we had to respond just as quickly. While the pace was demanding, it reinforced something important — that reliability, consistency, and trust matter just as much as the products themselves.

The years that followed brought rising costs and supply challenges across the industry. Through it all, we remained focused on making careful decisions — balancing value, quality, and availability without losing sight of what collectors expect.

Today, things are more settled, and that allows us to focus fully on what has always mattered. Every order is handled with care because we understand what these models represent. They are not simply items on a shelf. They can be a finishing piece in a long-built collection, a gift with real meaning, or a connection to something personal.

That understanding continues to guide us. Our aim is not just to sell models, but to provide a service collectors can rely on — one that feels considered, consistent, and built on experience.
